  Today Bridger will answer your questions from this post. If I talk during the questions it will be in
italics. So let's go!

Would you rather be the oldest or the youngest?

 Hm. Let me think about that. I'm already the youngest, so... Pretty sure I'd want to be the oldest. It's better than being a fifth son, I'm sure. 

Which of your brothers do you feel closest to?

Iden. He's in the ministry so he's kind to everyone and will simply listen to me when I wish to vent about something.

Why do you hate your name?

I would think this to be for obvious reasons. All of my brothers have names translating to wealthy or kingly... My name brings to mind images of bridges and people are neverletting me forget that. I hear too many bridge jokes to handle. 

If you can't find the sleeping princess, do you think you'll marry the pirate girl?

If you avoided death would you walk in front of a cannon ball blast? 

Hi Bridger! (I love your name, so there :P) How did you find out about the sleeping princess?

 My thanks. My nurse told me the story when I was a child. She spoke of it as if it were more than a story so I am sure it is. 

What do you think the sleeping princess will be like?

I believe she will be young, fair of face, and of a kind heart. She will be grateful to be awoken and will be happy to have me as her rescuer, even if I am a fifth son.

 What if she's a spoiled snob? Would you still marry her if she was?

It would still be better than Eliysa Delgor.

Do you like animals?

They serve their purposes. I do enjoy the hounds from the kennels and to ride the stable horses. So I suppose the answer is yes. 

If you existed in present time, would mashed potatoes on top of cheese or pepperoni pizza sound delicious? Would you eat it?

I eat potatoes and cheese as separate entities, but I must say that description sounds delicious. Pepperoni pizza... Interesting words. Author explained it to me. I think I would like it. If it is food I will eat it. 

Who is your closest sibling? 

Iden, as I answered above. 

What is your biggest fear? 

Death, most likely. At the hands of Eliysa Delgor? This is my interview. Sh.

When is your birthday? 

In the autumn month you call November. On the 16th of that month. 

Where were you last Friday?

The ocean. We've recently set off. It is beautiful but also nauseating at times.

Why is your name so weird?

I suspect my parents were at a low of boredom and decided to play a cruel trick on me. 

How does that make you feel? 

Jealous? Depressed? That I could change my name?

If you could save one person in the world from death, who would it be?

I have learned that death is a cruel thing that you cannot save someone from. But if I could I would choose my friend, Erel, or perhaps Iden or my mother. 

How tall are you?

Six feet.

What is one of your favorite phrases to say, or one you just say a lot?

I often call Eliysa Delgor a siren, if that counts?

If you could have one power (a super ability), what would it be?

Invisibility so Eliysa would leave me be. Or the ability to move from one place to another in a moment, so then I could find my princess sooner. 

What are you most afraid of?

I answered this. 

If a bully who is stronger than you was picking on you, how would you respond?

You must be speaking of my elder brother, Darreh. Usually I just refuse to do what he wants. He either grows bored or boxes my ears. 

If a bully who is stronger than you was picking on a friend, how would you respond?

I would probably yell at them and try to avoid getting beaten up. Perhaps a duel would be in order. I am good with a sword. 

If you could give up your life to save someone, would you do it?

I'm not sure I'd call myself a hero. I suppose it depends on the person.

If someone was willing to die for you, would you let them do it?

I hope not.

If there was no tomorrow, what would you do?

Celebrate, perhaps. There would be no need to worry about Eliysa Delgor any longer.

How many siblings do you have?

Four older brothers and they don't often enjoy letting me forget it.

Meet Bridger

  So heyyy. It's been a bit since my last post and I figured it was about time to get writing again on here! So I'm going to get things started by talking about the story I'm writing for Camp NaNoWriMo and start a new character interview. Whoot whoot!

  For NaNo, I'm writing a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. I included elements from the story, but it's wayyyyy different than the original fairy tale. Way different. During NaNo I'm actually sharing it on Wattpad because somehow that helps me, but here it is if you would like to read. The story is called Wayward Path.

Description:

  Prince Bridger hates his name... and the plans his parents have for him. As the fifth son he has only one duty: to marry well. But his parent's choice for bride is a girl whose family line leads back to piracy and many mysterious deaths. Bridger retaliates by boycotting the marriage and borrowing one of his father's ships to search for the myth of a sleeping princess he heard long ago.

   His pirate bride chases after him, for a woman spurned is a dangerous thing. As he avoids cuthroats, sea monsters, and other dangers, Bridger is left to wonder if the lure of a sleeping princess is worth every obstacle he faces.

   When one sets out for adventure, a bit of peace and quiet is sometimes appreciated.


  I'm really excited and having fun with this project. I only want it to end up being about 20,000 words as it is a novella, and the words are stacking up pretty nicely. I already have nearly 8,000. If I can keep up this rate, the rest of camp should be a breeze, although I will be going to an actual camp and won't be able to write next week...

  Anyway, I thought it would be fun to introduce some of my characters. I was really tempted to
introduce you to Eliysa, my spurned pirate lady, but decided you should meet Bridger first. The photos I have chosen for Bridger were the best I could find in a pinch, though not quite what I imagine. Still... Here he is. If the synopsis wasn't enough info, he's a stubborn dreamer who wants to believe in fairy tales. This idea gets him into trouble a lot, especially when the wrong kind of fairy tales come true. He has brown, feathery hair, and an eye color I can never settle on. Green, perhaps. He's thin and wiry and somewhat clumsy. And... I'll let you get to know him yourself.

You Ask Rathelm: The Answers

 Hey everyone! I'm late again... but I shall try to post Friday instead of yesterday. Of course... tomorrow I'm starting college, so hoping I'll get my blog post up. Here's hoping!

 Anyway, I think we have waited long enough for Rathelm's answers to the questions we asked a while back. I guess there is a reason he didn't get as many as Elric. (I see that glare, Mr.) But here they are. May he have mercy on your heads.

Your majesty is too kind to answer the questions of us mere peasants. I would ask if you two things: the first, how many people have you executed in your illustrious career, and what is your preferred method? (William Cloud)

 I see you have a smooth tongue. Many with smooth tongues have had a sharp blade beneath it. In my time of king, the execution rate could be varied. There are certain crimes which are punishable by death that could be done without my knowledge, and taken care of. For personal execution... perhaps less than fifty... perhaps more.

 For my preferred method, the method with a message is the most suitable to get the word across to others in the kingdom. Therefore, often the most violent way is the most practical. For example, leaving traitorous generals high on towers in the sky to be dehydrated, and eaten by our lovely death birds.

 How long has he reigned as king and did he ever want to do anything else besides be king? (Victoria Grace Howell)

 I have been king for almost twenty-five years. Why do you wish to know this information? I never wanted anything else. It was what I was groomed for. It was what I always wanted to be, whether it was my choice or not.  Me: That totally makes sense...

What is his highness' favorite color, meal, and, if he were to have free time, what would he do? (Anna Three)

Purple for royalty. Roast duck stuffed with green peppers and cheeses. I used to hunt, but no more. The hobby has lost its appeal. A game of fencing gets the blood flowing. But if you think I'll tell you my schedule so that you can attack, you are gravely mistaken.

Is there a particular reason his highness is such a grouch? (Anna Three)

Insolence! If we were in Linaeus you would be executed at once. A maid should not speak to her king in such a familiar and disrespectful manner!

Me: Eesh. Moving on...

What was your childhood like? (Athelas Hale)

 Like any other who is destined to be king. Tutors in all practical things such as swordplay and strategy and some less needed areas. I played alone, but that was how things had to be. When you are special, you are apart. You must stay special.

When you became King, what did you feel? (Athelas Hale)

 Like a king! The moment I had trained for twenty years for had arrived. I was excited, ready to make my kingdom the best.

 What do you consider an offense worth death? (Athelas Hale)

 Betrayal above all other things. This encompasses all things like speaking about the king in a derogatory manner, talking to the king in a disrespectful manner, etc.

What did you feel like when you first killed someone? (Athelas Hale)

I have never killed a person myself, but on my first ordered execution I felt in control. No one could undermine me.

What do you think of your son, Elric? (Athelas Hale)

 My weakling son? He wastes time. If he is to be king he must show more interest in the position. He must be more serious. Dreams are for the lower royalty to attain. Everyone wants to be king so I don't know why he resists it so. He needs a backbone.

Why does his highness not value book learning? (Imogen Elvis)

 There are a certain few books that can be advantageous, but there is only a degree of book learning that can help you rule. The rest must be learned with iron fist and attentive ears.

What does his highness value instead? (Imogen Elvis)

 I value decisiveness. Knowing your own mind. That is the thing about my son. He never shows he has strength of will. I value strength. My son Aren. He is a sight to behold. A talented, likely young lad. Unfortunately he was born last.

In his highness's opinion, are kings are allowed to have friends, and if so, does he have any? (Imogen Elvis)

 Friendship was a commodity I never was allowed. I have never needed it. 

 Who does his highness care about the most? (Imogen Elvis)

 Can I say myself? In this world you have to look out for yourself. But if not, my son Aren. He is no failure.

And finally, cats or dogs? (Imogen Elvis)

Cats. They are brooding and unpredictable. A somewhat intriguing match up.

 Me: Yes... I can see that... I wonder who that reminds me of...

You Ask Fanic: The Answers

 

This is the look he's giving me right now.

Last week, I asked you to send questions in for my creepy creep from The Prince's Quest, Fanic. Although he's such a weirdo, people seem to love him... something I don't quite understand. Anyway, here are the questions you asked. I'll try to keep him from being too... um... freaky.







 
What got you interested in blades and knives, and what was your first knife you ever got? 

 I like the way this is starting out. There is no reason not to enjoy the benefits of a knife. With my many blades, I can accomplish anything a bow or sword can with less work. Although, I sometimes use a bow, I much prefer knives. For example, you can run out of arrows, or grow exhausted with a sword. A knife brings the two together. You can throw them, or use them in hand-to-hand combat. And knives are the best choice for my profession because of the secrecy they allow. I received my first knife on my eighth birth celebration. It was a paltry weapon from my mother, but I put it to good use, and it began my love for cutting things.

Who was the first person you killed? 

 That would be the man my mother married when I was ten. He was a brute, and I should be thanked for his death. He lasted until I was fourteen, and then I grew tired of him.

Can you talk about how you felt afterwards?

 Triumphant, what else? To put down a man such as that can be described as nothing else. I discovered that killing is what I am good at.

Would you consider yourself more of a psychopath or a sociopath?

 My dear, are you questioning my sanity? (Me: I think he's a sociopath with psychopathic tendencies. But I don't know. :P)

Is there anyone who's ever been dear to you in life? Or have you always been more of a lone-ranger? 

Having someone you care for makes you weak. I had a mother, but she's dead now. When I was eighteen I fancied I loved a girl. She's dead too. Come to your own conclusions.

Who or what do you hate most, and why?

I don't think there's anyone left to hate. If I hate someone, they die.

What would you do if you encountered that person/thing/situation right now?

 I think I already made my answer clear, but I would kill them. Quite possibly.

What do you fear? Or will you admit to fearing anything at all? 

 *Yawn* Fear is my domain. I am the shadow in your bedroom, I am the dagger waiting to stab you. I live on fear. 

What's your favorite blade type/design? Tanto? Bowie?

I don't know what a Tanto or Bowie is, but if I understand the question, you're asking me my preferred knife? My favorite blades are the ones I make myself, or get through the black market weapons dealers. I like them to be long, so they're easy to slip between ribs. Or at least to wave around threateningly. Thin is also a bonus at times.

Which style of knife (ex. Throwing, dagger) do you prefer?

I enjoy all kinds. Each has its merit. To choose one would be like choosing a favorite child. If I had one.







How many knives do you own?

The answer varies. I carry a certain number on my person, and keep some in my dwelling. I like collecting a knife from every city I visit. I'd say nearing 200 at this point, though I only carry fifteen with me.

Which is your favorite?

 My serrated blade. It was created with jagged edges, and is the most fun to terrify people with.

 And would you agree that Damascus steel is the best? 

 I've never heard of such a thing as Damascus. The best steel comes from the mines in Linaeus. Also, Masin has good metal if they would bother collecting it. 

Do you prefer to work as an assassin or a scout and why?

An assassin's job is more fun. Though the pleasure isn't really from killing. When you're a scout you can terrify the people you are tracking, or even those you are working with. I'm at the middle of the road here.

Did you ever have a family? Where are they now?

 These questions are so repetitive. I had a family. I had a mother and a sister. They're both gone. It's none of your concern.

When did you find yourself first enjoying pain? How did it make you feel when you realized it?

 I broke another boy's arm when I was twelve. When you first find yourself enjoying pain it can be frightening until you transition into appreciating it. I felt powerful.


If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?

I would have killed my mother's husband sooner.

Say you're sick in bed, trying stubbornly to rest, and have absolutely no intention of moving. If there was one sound in the world that would force you out of that bed to go chasing after the source, what would it be?

 I don't get sick. But one thing to make me leave my bed would be the sound a person. Because when I sleep, no people should stir.

If a stranger were to approach you and introduce themselves, any suspicions aside, what is the first thing about them that you would notice?

 If they carried a visible weapon. If they looked afraid.

Can you identify a single thing that changed your path in life, and would you change that if you could?

As I've said, the killing of my mother's husband. I was preparing to be a fisherman, but that changed it all. I wouldn't change it. Can't you see how happy I am?


 Has Fanic always enjoyed hurting others or was there a time when he didn't? 

 You make is sound so animalistic. And I'm right here. No third person, please. Hurting others... hmm. I suppose I may not have enjoyed it when I was young. But I was weak. I'm not weak anymore.

You Ask Fanic

This was the best I could do.

 All right, so you've met Elric and Anya, two of the principle characters from The Prince's Quest, so now you get to meet Fanic... Someone I'm not sure how to introduce as.

 Fanic, well, he's interesting. I suppose he's a bit of a sociopath. Or something of that sort. He enjoys pain... in doses. The first time you meet him he is shoving someone head under the water and enjoying every moment. He also takes great pride in his collection of knives, often using them as a tool to scare unsuspecting victims with.  His favorite is his serrated blade. He's very interesting. He likes to threaten people, but often is more talk than anything. He has a checkered past, and hires himself as an assassin or scout. There's a lot more to him, but I'll let you ask the questions.

You Ask Anya: The Answer

 So here are the answers to Anya's questions! Thanks everyone for asking, we're very interested to answer. Well I am. Anya isn't exactly thrilled. So here they are!

  If a madman with a blue box showed up at your front door and offered to show you the universe, what would you do?

 I'm sorry. I don't really understand the question. I think if the man were truly mad I wouldn't want to go with him. I've met some mad people, and it wasn't a nice experience. (Me: Why all the Doctor Who questions? :P)

What kind of music or musical instrument is your favorite?

 I like the trill of a flute. Such a lovely sound. But I love all types of music and instruments, so it would be a hard thing for me to make a definite choice.

What is your favorite season and why?

 There is so much beauty in each season that I'm not sure I could choose. The One created them so unique. I do love Spring when things are starting to grow, but Autumn brings such interesting colors. Summer and Winter also have their merits.

Do you sing? 

 I do, but mostly in worship. I'm not a minstrel or anything fancy such as that.


What would you do if Elric asked you out? 

Asked me... out? You mean to go outside? (Me: She means it in a romantic way. What would you do if Elric wanted you to go somewhere with him because he liked you.) Oh. *Blushes* I... I do not know. He's nice, I suppose.

If you had the chance to travel, would you? Where would you go? Why?

 My father and I always talked about going to the Unknown Lands. I've always wondered what it is like there... what mysteries can be unfolded. I would travel if I get the opportunity. And I would go for the reason of discovering new things, hopefully.

 What would you do if you found out someone close to you betrayed you?

 Once again, I'm not sure. These are strange questions. The One asks us to forgive those who oppress us, but in the face of such an act, I'm sure it would be hard.


Why isn't your mother in the picture? 

 Ah. Well... my mother passed away when I was a very little girl. She had a sickness that our physician was unable to treat.


What are your hobbies? 

 Cooking, going on picnics, walking, working with my father, conversing.


Who is your closest friend?

Ryald, I suppose, though he can be overprotective to a fault. He's the stableboy who's decided to be my older brother.


What do you dream about?

 Many things. Seeing the Unknown lands, visiting Linaeus, a future as a wife and mother, many things.

Are you satisfied with your life?

 We can always wish for bigger things, but for now, I am happy for all The One has bestowed upon me.


Who would you die to save?

The Scroll of Wisdom talks about giving your life for a friend being the greatest form of love... Most likely easier said than done. But my father... Life without him would be so hard.

Do you expect to ever get married and have children?

 It is one of my greatest desires. Currently, our town has a shortage of honorable young men. Excluding Ryald, who I couldn't marry anyway. 


What is your fondest memory?

 There are many. Visiting the Worship Hall with my father as a girl, and having him read the holy text shines brightly in my mind. I also have some recent memories of picnics and new friends that I wish to remember always.


Do you read?

If there is a book to be found in my small town, I will be found reading it at some point.


If you could travel to any place in your world, where would it be and why? 

Everyone seems very interested in my travels. I would like to visit those I've mentioned, but I think I would also like to see the other countries surrounding Linaeus, more specifically Dagger Island and the Alven Isles. I've never seen the ocean.


What circumstances people make you get the most sad, angry, excited, and nervous? 

I am most sad at the thought of someone never knowing The One, and never wanting to know Him. I think I might be angry if someone was cruel to someone I loved. I would be excited to see new things, and to introduce someone to new things. I would be most nervous to accidentally betray someone. It is always important to be careful what you say.


What's your favorite food?

Fresh baked bread with newly harvested honey spread on top. There is nothing so tempting and delicious.


Would you ever consider killing someone? In what situation would you do that? Is there anyone you would never kill? 

We are taught that is the most precious thing there is, and to end a life is terrible. I know death is sometimes necessary, and the Scrolls of Wisdom tell of such things occurring, but I don't think I could. Something very terrible would have to happen to make me consider taking another life. I would never kill those I love especially.

How do you feel about your family? What do your relationships look like?

My only family is my Father, Amos. And I love him more than I can express. Our relationship is one of great closeness. Losing my mother caused us to cling more to each other. I am thankful to the One for keeping us together.  I have a normal relationship with those in my town, friendship with Ryald, and a new, different friendship with Elric.


What is your first memory?

My mother singing to me as a little child, stroking my hair, and talking to me in soothing tones.


A few of your favorite people?

My father, of course. Physician Brown and his wife are wonderful people. Ryald. And I'm enjoying getting to know Elric. I think there's a lot more to him than he realizes.

You Ask Elric Part 2: The Answers

 As you can tell I took a bit of a blogging break yesterday, but I'm ready to get back to writing! :D Today, I'm going to answer the questions you asked Elric last week. The prince is standing by and ready to answer... well, mostly ready. He's a bit uncertain about this. Next week I may have Anya, or perhaps even Fanic to answer questions. Mwhahahaha.

What is his weapon of choice? And which variant of that weapon?

  Elric: I prefer swords if I'm training. I've never had true combat, but as far as sparring goes I'll take my long sword.

What is your biggest fear?

Elric: ...I... I'm not sure really. I suppose it's making the wrong choice and causing devastation.

Do you have nightmares, or have you ever had nightmares? If so, about what?

Elric: I normally do not experience nightmares, but quite recently I had one involving bear-wolves dripping with evil and consuming those I care for. *Shudder* I don't like to think of such things.

If you were to be locked in room for a hundred years (in which time you neither needed to age or eat or sleep) and you could pick one person to be with you, who would you choose?

Elric: That sounds like a story book. I would have to say my manservant Winston would be the best choice. He is loyal to a fault, and the only person I can trust in this world.

What do you believe about God, the afterlife, and religion? 

Elric: I don't know much about these things. All religious books were banned from the palace library because the king believed them to present false hopes and promises, as well as distract the people from their true sovereign. I've recently come into contact with people who believe in a deity called The One. I don't know much about that either, but they certainly seem to have something different. I'll investigate further. As far as the afterlife... who wouldn't like to believe there is life after death? The sciences don't seem to think there is... but... I don't know.

Can you dance? Do you enjoy it if you can?

Elric: *blushes* Yes, I can dance. If you live in the palace you are supposed to have a certain degree of knowledge in these areas for balls and such. I'm not sure I enjoy it. I can't help thinking that the girls I dance with aren't quite impressed. The music is nice, I suppose.

What is your favorite book?

Elric: I enjoy a variety of different books. If I must narrow it down to a favorite... Perhaps it would be The Song Bird of Masin by Duke Henley the III.

Do you prefer reading or mathematics? 

Elric: I like all types of learning, and I believe that both go hand in hand, but my definite answer would be reading.

What is your opinion on your author?

Elric: I'm not certain I even have an opinion. From what I've seen of her author friends, they are crueler than she could ever be. But she has given me my share of pain... not all undeserved.

If he could only save one and the others would die- who would he choose? The King, the brother, or the girl?

Elric: I'm certain this question is bordering on treason. And I'm not sure I can properly answer it. At this current point in time, I would save Anya. She is a young woman without weapon. My father and brother might be able to defend themselves. My brother is never without his sword.

Are there any girls in his life?

Elric: I'm not sure of the meaning of this question. I have a mother. There are the daughter of the nobles. Is this meant in a romantic way? If so, the answer is... probably not at this current time.

How does he feel about that sort of thing?

Elric: If I were a peasant I might think love were something beautiful. But being a prince I think every girl who shows interest in me is only wanting the position I would offer. And I don't want that to be my life.

Is he interested in girls? 

Elric: I'm a young man, of course I am, and as Crown Prince I'm expected to marry young. But as previously stated, most girls are looking for the power I may someday hold, and I don't want to marry someone who does not love me. There is one girl I've met, but I'm not certain about her yet.

Favorite book?

Elric: You all are very interested in my reading habits. But as I said, it would be The Song Bird of Masin. 

Why?

Elric: It is a beautiful tale of love that goes beyond all barriers and it takes place in Masin, a country I hope to visit one day. A princess who sings beautifully is turned into a bird by an evil man so her prince must rescue her. It never grows old.

Are there certain types of books he prefers?

Elric: I enjoy fiction the most because it takes me away from my life for at least a little while.

If, out of the blue, you were given a baby to watch for the day, how would you react to having to feed it, change it, and entertain it? What would you do if the baby started crying? How would you put the baby to sleep (sing, rock, etc.)? 

Elric: First off, I'm not certain why anyone would give me a baby to watch over. There are many nursemaids available. To feed it I would have to visit the kitchens and ask for some milk, I suppose. I don't know about the changing part... I'd have to ask Winston, but I suppose it isn't too hard. To entertain it, I would get Winston to act out a comedy as I read it. If the baby started crying I would return it to it's mother. The same with the sleeping part. If necessary I could rock it...

If a blue police box, containing a strange space man named... (what was it... Dr...who?) mysteriously appeared in your backyard, would you fight, flee, or invite him in for a cup of tea? (that totally rhymed!)
  
Elric: I don't know what a police box is. Some kind of carriage? If it appeared in my backyard... do you mean courtyard? If you do... the guard would probably apprehend him before I'd have a chance to do anything. You have to be cleared to enter the courtyard. If it were my choice, I'd ask why he was there.

If you could play a musical instrument what would it be? 

Elric: I've always wanted to play an instrument. But my father thought lessons to be trivial and unneeded. I would choose the violin because it makes such beautiful strains of music, and I could carry it everywhere I travel.

Would he consider himself an introvert or an extrovert?

Elric: I'm an introvert. Starting conversations is tiresome, and I'm not very good at starting them. I'd rather read a book.

Victoria Grace Howell: So what's his fantasy world like? Is their anything unique to it he likes to do?

Elric: My world is normal. I suppose that's what you would say. Linaeus is just one of many countries. We are cut off from the world by mountains on one side, a dangerous pass, a valley... There are other lands around us as well. Masin, Braxland, Redvane, Animas. There are two islands off of Braxland- Dagger Isles, and Alven Island. There are also the unknown lands, and the Filian Desert ruled by violent tribes. We use horses as transportation.  We have standard weapons. There isn't truly anything spectacular about my home. We have a few interesting creatures, but nothing to boggle the mind. As for the second half of your question, I don't know if you would call it unique, but I enjoy sitting in the garden, reading, and occasionally watching the palace children play.

Karoline Kingley: If he could hold any position in the world, what would it be and why? 

 Any position? If life were so kind... I think I would enjoy teaching. Perhaps I could go to one of the universities in Masin, where knowledge is so treasured, and teach there. I think a simple life would be the most rewarding thing.

Heather Manning: Elric, what kinds of books do you like to read? 

 Hm. What a hard question! I've read just about every book in the palace library. They've covered a variety of subjects from fairy tale to medical. I think my favorites would have to be the stories. They make life look so simple and kind. 

Cari: Elric, how do you fix your hair like that, when you don't live in the 21st century?

 I don't understand what you mean by 21st century. Our land is very old, and if century stands for one hundred as I believe it to, our world is older than that. Perhaps, you mean the styling is similar to that century? I suppose I would have to look through my history books... My hair is a simple procedure. Apparently, a prince is not allowed to have out of place hair unless he is fencing. My family buys from a merchant who imports rala snails from the Alven Isles. It's rather disgusting, but they produce a thick gel that when applied smells terrible, but later fades, and manages to hold hair in place. It's very expensive, but it's insisted upon.

Katelyn: Elric, what do you think of your father? 

 I... what a strange question. Well. Will my father read this? (Me: No, I'll see to it.) All right. I respect my father as king. It is my duty to obey and protect him. That doesn't mean I always approve of his... ways. I don't always think what he does is just, and I don't understand his methods.  

Magic Violinist: Who is more in control: You or Bethany?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I believe I am in control of my functions. If you are speaking of the strange girl who is always harping after me... I am not sure. She normally lets me do as I will.

Magic Violinist: Do you like your name or wish you could change it? 

 I don't know. I've never truly thought about it. Elric is my name, and always has been. There's never been a time where I disliked it. Though I do not understand why my mother would name me such a thing, as I feel the description suits my younger brother much better.

Elizabeth: How do you feel about being one of the "highest minds in the country"?

*Blushes.* I do not know if I would call that true. My teacher may have simply been trying to make me feel good about myself. But I will say that knowledge is a wonderful thing, and I'm glad I have had the opportunity to read, discuss, and learn about many things. Mayhap they will come in use one day.

Elizabeth: How do people treat you?  

 These questions are... very personal. If I must answer... (You must.) Then I will say with truthfulness that I am not a much admired person. At least among the servants of the palace. They have openly spoken about me. It is a widely held belief that my younger brother would be a better king, and sometimes I agree with it. He seems like a good candidate. My father sees me as a weakling. The only people who treat me with love or respect are my mother and manservant and best friend, Winston.

Elizabeth: Do you wish they would treat you differently?

Yes. I do. I wish only that they would endure me. They don't have to like me, or respect me. I wish only that I would be accepted. If only a little.

Elizabeth: Have you ever been in love? 

Love. It sounds like something from one of the fairy tales. I have never known love of that kind. The only girls to notice me have been those wanting to be queen one day. But recently, I have noticed a girl who seems different. But if she found out the truth about me, I don't know what she would do.

Zachary B.:  Elric, is your Father's name reflective of his disposition?

I don't suppose I know. I think at one time it was short for something. Rathone or something. In years past it was shortened. It is tradition for the crown prince to be named after two weeks, so perhaps he was an unhappy infant.  

Micah: What real life person did you base Elric on?

 I don't know as I was based on anyone. I am myself.

(He was born out of a scene, and his personality just developed. His early physicality may have been based on one of my brothers.)
